Linda K. Johnson (Portland) is a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest performance ecology, known for large-scale, site-based movement works that address our collective relationship to place. For the Triennial, Johnson has created a new solo dance work which lives inside the larger exhibition container of her exhibition The Evidence of Foot Fall and will be performed episodically over the 9-week run of the show. Titled Altered Terrain, the new solo dance work is constructed from and in response to Johnson’s 35+ year site-responsive choreographic oeuvre. The work explores the questions, processes and limits of the re-circulation of latent creative materials into the present and into the future. Designed specifically for the PLACE blackbox, the Altered Terrain is approximately 30 minutes long and engages props, stage materials, choreographic fragments, archival footage, and audio interviews from the history of Johnson’s practice.
Attending the Performance Performance start times vary for each performance. Please note your performance start time carefully, as there is absolutely no late seating. Because seating is intimately, reservations are required. Doors open early to allow guests time to explore The Evidence of Footfall prior to showtime; late seating cannot be accommodated once the performance begins.
