Meech Boakye
Meech Boakye is a Portland-based interdisciplinary artist whose practice centers on collaborations with multispecies kin like plants and fungi. For C45, Boakye presents Black Pool Party at the Paragon Gallery at PCC Cascade. This two-part installation features a new multichannel video piece that simulates a continuous "slime pour," reframing a 1980s children’s television trope as an experience of vulnerability and exposure. In the adjoining gallery, touchable cast soap relief sculptures offer a form of "aftercare," inviting viewers to consider how matter functions as a medium of memory, emotion, and relationality.
